An accessible document contains described hyperlinks. Descriptive hyperlinks allow users to understand the purpose of the link before clicking it. Instead of using “See more” as an anchor for a URL, try: “More information about tuition fees for your cohort year can be found on the UofG Student Financial Services web page.” To make this new sentence clickable, highlight the text right-click, then choose Hyperlink. Insert the URL address you want to link to in the given parameters. As with images, hyperlinks require alternate text for those using assistive technology. To add a description to your link, choose Screen Tip and insert. Remember: URL anchors should be descriptive. All hyperlinks must be equipped with Screen Tips.
