CMS Quality Conference 2015 Tuesday Recap

CMS Quality Conference 2015 Tuesday Recap

This means that for the first time, that we’ll
be measuring patients’ functional status, cognitive status, falls, pressure ulcers,
discharge to community, readmissions, resource use… in the same way across all settings. That’s why I’m very pleased to announce today
that later this week CMCS is going to publish in the Federal Register a final regulation
that establishes a substantially enhanced 90% matching rate for eligibility enrollment
systems that are geared at supporting states’ efforts at enrolling people in Medicaid and
CHIP coverage simply, seamlessly, and with minimal consumer burden. Well, definitely with Dr. Arora’s presentation
I think that just the insight he gave, and how we could use limited resources to really
work into our communities and strengthen partnerships… I think that was one of the most inspiring
and inspirational things that I can take back. We’re very much aware that the work requires
us to reach so many more people, and there’s not enough resource to do it without combining
and partnering effectively. The next step requires your innovation, all
your capabilities, your focus and commitment to quality, and your willingness and ability
to measure and be accountable like never before. And finally, it’s important to acknowledge
that transformation of our health care system is leadership work. All of you in this room
are leaders for this country in improving the quality of care for patients and families.
And so in this role we expect a few things of you. We expect you to set bold aims that
are beyond your immediate reach, and to achieve these aims by enrolling others in the work
and partnering with one another and with other stakeholders who may not be here today. And
that you enroll others in this work by making very specific requests and offers, and that
you secure commitments from each other to work together in specific ways that will generate
results.
