Beauty Products with Weird Textures – Tried and Tested: EP159

Hello Girlfriends and welcome to another episode of Tried and Tested! Today we’ll be trying out some products with weird textures. This is a facial soap from Kyoto which uses a jelly which is made from the edible konjac plant. It’s konnyaku in Japanese. This is so cute, look at the effort! Such a beautiful gift! A bit sayang to open. Oooooh! This looks like jelly for eating! This is formulated with high content of konjac ceramide, which makes this squishy texture possible. The soap is supposed to absorb all the impurities from your face without stripping it of all the nutrients and still leaving it soft and doesn’t dry out the way a lot of soaps do. Wah that smells very fresh. Oh it’s got gold flakes! It feels very *toing toing* I’m a bit scared to squeeze too hard, but there is this desire to kind of just go, *squeeze*! So cute! Squish you! When you store it in your bathroom, you should not store it in water. If there’s water, the whole thing might just dissolve. Now it doesn’t claim to remove makeup, so I’m going to remove my makeup first, and can I just show you guys some that I just started using? I’m so happy, I got reusable cotton pads! They are so cute! They come in all these great designs. After the Love Beauty Planet episode, I’ve actually been thinking a lot about other ways to go green. I’m still not quite there yet, but, small steps. I stopped using cotton pads now, these are great. Like so good! So you have to wet it. And then you lather. So smooth! The lather is so creamy! And it’s not very sudsy. It’s a very heavy dense foam. I just so excited to use this thing, I didn’t put my towel, I’m too far away from the table, didn’t tie up my hair. When I first started washing it off, I was like “Eh?? Why is it taking so long?” But I think it’s because it’s creamy. Can you hear my skin? It feels a bit niam (sticky). I’m not sure how I feel about my skin after (using) this soap. It doesn’t have the just washed feeling. It just feels different. It’s not what I’m used to. Normally when I wash my face, it feels like all the dirt and the impurities and all that have been taken away. (With) this one, it doesn’t feel that way, but it doesn’t feel like it’s still dirty. It feels like it’s clean but I can’t tell if it’s been cleaned. Maybe this is what natural soap is supposed to feel like. I don’t know! If this dropped in the shower, I would never pick that up and put it on my face. I know logically it’s ok, but it’s just ’cause of the texture and – I won’t be able to do that. I will think about stuff like that. I know it’s stupid, but – Just be more careful, but that’s not the point. I feel that maybe a net would be good to keep this nice and safe. It says that it’s supposed to leave your skin feeling very moisturised and supple right, I feel that it hasn’t stripped my skin, but I don’t feel like it has added any moisture to it. As a soap, maybe a 7/10? But for packaging and everything, I would give that a 9, ’cause just the texture is so cute. So I guess overall, it’ll be an 8? This is Shiseido’s WASO Silky Smooth Mochi Mask. Now unlike most masks that come ready to use, you actually have to do a little bit of work before being able to use this. You’re supposed to mix the powder and the fluid. The powder is super fine! So now I’m going to pour the liquid in, I have to mix it for about 30 seconds and then the solution should turn doughy. Oh, that’s super doughy! So fun! Oh it’s very warm! Oh it’s turned into this little doughy thing. It’s actually a bit hot! Ok now I need to – Oh my god this is like playing with a slime! Now I’m supposed to separate it into 2. I’m going to put this back here first. Wow, that’s a mess. So you’re supposed to hold it down one side, and then you’re supposed to spread it to kind of fit your face. I don’t understand. It’s not sticking. I can feel it cooling down already. Hold it down with one hand and spread the mask out while fitting the other hand. That’s what I’m trying to do! Maybe if I try spreading it out first before I – Ok, that’s a bit better. It hardens pretty quickly once you spread it out. I think maybe because it starts to lose heat or something. Is this supposed to be a spot mask? This is terrible! No! I’m so upset! What did I do wrong? Alright! And it’s all falling off now. I don’t know what kind of mask this is or what it’s supposed to do. On the video that I saw, the person just put 2 round blobs on and I don’t understand if that is for illustration purposes or whether that’s actually how you’re supposed to use the mask because then I don’t quite understand what kind of mask this is! Is it for extreme radiance on your cheeks? So it’s not supposed to go on the rest of your face? I’m not sure. And then I saw someone else trying to do it and she only managed to cover half her face and it was uneven and it went across some of her mouth. So I’m still not sure how it’s supposed to be done! When you look at the pictures, she’s spreading it out across her face. I feel like if it was really just specifically for 2 spots on your cheek like this, then I think that they need better instructions for that. It needs to be a diagram, and you just draw this is where your mochi mask goes. A lot of mask they do feel like they just *bleh* (stick) on your skin, whereas this one I feel like “Oh, maybe this is a different way where it doesn’t feel so attached to your skin” but the problem is it did not attach at all. Even as I pressed it on and I try to spread it out, the part where I was trying to hold on to would not stay on my skin. So it was just this constant struggle. I feel like almost need to do it lying down and then glue it on or something because it just wouldn’t stay. I felt like that was a bit of a pity, because it was such a fun mask to start doing. I loved it. The texture was just adorable. This thing cost $15. That is not cheap to mess up. After this epic fail, I would not spend another $15 to try and make it work. What if I fail again? That’s another $15 on a mask that is not doing anything for my face because it won’t stick! I really wanted to work, because it just sounded so cute, also it was so much fun and for the fun factor, I’d give that a 4. If I minus the fun factor, I think I have to give it a 0. It just would not stick on my face. As the name suggests, this Colourpop Jelly Much Eyeshadow has a jelly formula. Apparently this is very pigmented and also long-wearing and it dries down to a powder finish with zero fallout. Promising! The name is so cute. Jelly much? Jelly! I’m jelly! The thing about jelly products is that they do dry out faster than other products. Do all you can to keep all your goodness sealed in. Oh I was expecting that to be a lot more like a cream! Because it looks like a cream, but when you tap on it, it kinda bounces. Feels a bit like putty. When I first touch it, it’s a bit wet, but when I’m spreading it, it doesn’t feel wet at all. It already starts to feel like a powder. I’ve only removed the eyeshadow on this eye, so I’m going to try this out. Oh my goodness, this thing is so pigmented! The colour payoff is nuts! Nuts I tell you, nuts! It’s beautiful! And a little goes such a long way! It matches my top! This should be my makeup for the rest of the shoot. I was actually expected it to be a little bit more difficult to blend, but it was not too bad. The thing only is at the edges, it is a little bit tricky to kind of get it smoothed out evenly and nicely before it sets, because it sets really fast. I feel like kinda need to know your game plan before you get it onto your eye. It’s actually really easy to work with. I like that I can just use my fingers, because I actually prefer using my fingers for a lot of things. So it does say that it’s supposed to be crease proof and long wearing, I feel like i will have to try that outside, so I’ll bring this back and try a day of it, a day with bright orange eyes. So I thought I’d just try out the Colourpop while I’m out today, and yah! I’m really loving the colour man, it’s so cute! It’s so hot out, let’s see if it withstands Singapore’s humidity. I’m back now and I’m just looking at how this thing has held up. I kind of feel like it melted a bit. My eyelids feel a little bit tacky. It’s caused my eyeliner to smudge. That happens sometimes when my eyelids get oily, but not this bad. The colour though is pretty incredible. It looks pretty much the same from this morning. I feel very minimal fading, so, overall, I think it’s great, but I wouldn’t use it in a humid country. Or on oily eyelids also. The fact that I have to consider how it holds and everything, maybe a 5.5/10. This is the Moonshot Jelly Pot eyeshadow, and it uses colour dispersion technology to prevent creasing. It also has a self-healing polymer technology to return to its original form. It comes with 3 types of finish, pearl, matte and glitter, and this one is French Toast. Moonshot is a very interesting brand because it’s a Korean brand and they’ve got really outrageous colours. I feel that a lot of the Korean brands out there stick to safer, neutral things for everyday use, but Moonshot really pushes it with their colours and their pigments all that. It’s funny because this doesn’t look like jelly to me. This looks like liquid. The texture is a bit like slime or pudding, but it goes back to what it was before. This feels like cream! But once it dries down, it dries down pretty hard and quite matte. With this kind of jelly eyeshadows, I think they’re great for when you want very intense colour because they build so well. It definitely gives an insane colour payoff especially for much less amount of work but then because it’s quite thick in its consistency, it makes it a bit hard to blend. ’cause it stays wet for longer, you have to let it dry before you open your eyes. Otherwise it’s going to cause a bit of a mess. And the finish feels very polished and almost budge proof. I will give this a 8/10. It’s like paint! Once it dries, it’s like it’s been painted on. This is the Pony Effect’s Grind Sparkling Shadow. It’s a pressed eyeshadow that you have to grind to release and to use. It’s supposed to give you a softer smoother effect, and also creates less of a mess then say a loose eyeshadow. This packaging doesn’t feel very lux. When you first open it, it looks like this, and to use it, you would have to do this. It’s better to do a very small amount and then mix it up. It does still feel very chunky, almost feels like a broken eyeshadow. It is recommended that you apply this with a sponge tip or your fingertips, so I’m going to use my fingers. That is very pigmented, and it applies very easily with a finger. It almost feels creamy as I’m applying it cause it’s very smooth and it’s very buttery. I guess this is an alternative to loose pigments and loose shadows, which are often very pigmented but can be a bit messy to use. I like that this helps you to control the amount of product that you’re going to be using. Overall I think this is pretty solid. I would give this an 8/10. This is the Saborino All-In-One milk mist. This is a toner, emulsion, serum and moisturiser all in one. So basically, it’s like your entire skin-care regime in 3 seconds. This is a milk mist whereas I feel like a lot of these facial sprays are often trying to be very light and fine not carry so many moisturising properties in them. Oooh wow! Oooh! It smells like shampoo. The texture feels like a milky sunblock, it’s a slightly heavier type of spray. Ultimately it is a moisturiser and if it has to emulsion and the serum in there, then it will be heavier. I still have my Lashify on, so I want to protect them, so I’m going to cover them. I definitely like the convenience of this, because on lazy days this would be a great way to get all of that settled very fast. The interesting thing is that even though it comes out in a mist, I feel that it isn’t any lighter than creams and serums. I don’t think I’m a huge fan of this because I think it’s a little bit too sticky and I actually can’t imagine wanting to put on my sunblock after this. Personally I would not use it just because I don’t like the way it feels. So I would give this maybe a 6/10. Ok we’ve come to the end of the episode! That Saborino Mist isn't for a day skincare routine, it's when you have a tired night and just want the skin care to be in 1 step

They even have the daily night sheet mask in the same colour which is dark blue

I think there was a mistake in this video. She was suppose to give review on the shaving pony effect thingy. However, during the rating part, the screen mentioned โ€œSaborino All-in-one Milk Mistโ€ instead of the Pony Effect.
